Ruling Coalition Collapses, New Alliance Emerges

The coalition between the Nepali Congress and the Maoist Centre has crumbled, paving the way for a new alliance.

Prime Minister Prachanda, has orchestrated a realignment in Nepali politics by forming a new coalition. This new alliance comprises the Maoist Centre, the Unified Marxist–Leninist (UML), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RSP), and Janata Samajbadi Party.

A crucial decision was made during a Sunday night meeting to dissolve the existing coalition and establish a new one with the UML. However, Prime Minister Dahal is slated to hold further discussions with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Monday.

Sources close to Dahal have revealed plans for a reshuffle in the council of ministers, intending to create a smaller cabinet temporarily. The new cabinet is expected to comprise representatives from the UML, Maoist Center, Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Janata Samajbadi Party, each contributing to the new government structure.
