Seven and a Half Kilos of Cocaine Seized at Kathmandu Airport; Latvian National Arrested

A joint operation by the Armed Police Force and Customs officials at Tribhuvan International Airport resulted in the seizure of seven and a half kilos of cocaine. The drugs were discovered on a Latvian national, Ivars Walters, who arrived on Qatar Airways flight QR 644 from Doha late Monday night.

Upon inspection, authorities found 7.665 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside a yellow chocolate-shaped package concealed within a pillow in Walters’ handbag. Walters, 51, was arrested and handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau at 4:30 a.m. for further investigation. The seizure marks a significant drug bust at the Kathmandu airport.
