Vistara Flight Diverted Due to Passenger’s Medical Emergency

A Vistara flight scheduled to depart for Delhi was diverted back to the parking area at Tribhuvan International Airport on Friday after a diabetic passenger experienced a sudden and severe increase in blood sugar levels.

According to Rinji Sherpa, spokesperson for Tribhuvan International Airport, Vistara flight number UK-158, which was set to depart at 11:30 am, had reached the take-off point on the narrowbody runway before being redirected back to the parking area.

The flight crew decided to return to Kathmandu rather than diverting to another international airport after takeoff, as it would have been more challenging to address the medical emergency in-flight. The passenger, a female on the 161-passenger flight, was subsequently taken off the plane and transported to Kathmandu Medical College in Sinamangal by ambulance.

Sherpa, also the airport’s director, confirmed that Vistara’s flight later resumed its journey to Delhi after the medical situation was resolved. This was the first of Vistara’s two daily flights between Delhi and Kathmandu on Friday.
