NC Strategizes to Cement Provincial Leadership with Fringe Party Support

In a bid to maintain its stronghold in the provinces, the Nepali Congress (NC) has embarked on a strategic maneuver, aiming to secure support from fringe parties across various regions. This decision was reached during a pivotal meeting held at the residence of NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha.

Key figures within the NC, including office bearers, lawmakers, and provincial leaders, convened to deliberate on the party’s approach towards retaining Chief Minister positions in the provinces. The consensus was to actively pursue alliances with smaller political entities to ensure the continuity of NC-led governments.

NC leader Arjun Narsingh KC conveyed, “The meeting has laid out a comprehensive plan, encompassing the extension of unwavering support to NC-led provincial administrations, concerted efforts to sustain their governance, and the mobilization of provincial leaders to garner backing from fringe parties. Additionally, the party will facilitate coordination from the central level when deemed necessary.”

Presently, the Nepali Congress wields authority in Sudurpashchim, Lumbini, Gandaki, and Koshi provinces, consolidating its presence across diverse regions of Nepal. With an eye on fortifying these positions, the NC has initiated dialogues with non-coalition parties, exploring avenues for continued collaboration to bolster provincial governments.
