Temperature Rises Gradually in Kathmandu Valley as Fog Persists in Tarai

The influence of a Westerly low-pressure system continues to impact Nepal’s weather, particularly in the western regions.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the hilly regions of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces are experiencing partly cloudy skies, while most other parts of the country enjoy fair weather. However, widespread fog persists in the Tarai region, affecting visibility and daily activities.
Meteorologist Pratibha Manandhar noted that the foggy conditions in the Tarai are expected to continue for the coming week, gradually dissipating thereafter.
In the Kathmandu Valley, temperatures have begun to rise slowly. The minimum temperature on Thursday morning was recorded at 6.1 degrees Celsius, remaining the same this morning. The maximum temperature in the Valley is forecast to range between 21 and 23 degrees Celsius today.
This afternoon, the hilly regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces are expected to remain partly cloudy, while other provinces will see mainly fair weather. Light snowfall is possible in one or two locations in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Karnali province.
Tonight, partly cloudy conditions are predicted for the hilly areas of Koshi and Karnali provinces, with fair weather dominating elsewhere.
The Department has issued a warning about dense fog in many parts of the Tarai on Saturday morning, which could disrupt daily life, agriculture, health, transport, and civil aviation. Light snowfall is also forecast for isolated areas in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Karnali over the next 24 hours.
Residents are advised to remain cautious and plan activities accordingly, especially in fog-prone areas.
