Wildlife Awareness Week Kicks Off with Community-Focused Initiatives

Wildlife Awareness Week has officially begun today with a series of community-centered programs aimed at promoting wildlife conservation and encouraging greater public involvement.
The Chitwan National Park, in collaboration with the Buffer Zone Management Committee, is organizing various activities throughout the week to raise awareness about the importance of protecting wildlife and preserving biodiversity.
The week-long campaign commenced with a flag hoisting ceremony at the Park office, followed by a schedule of educational and interactive events in surrounding communities, according to Chitwan National Park Information Officer Abinash Thapa Magar.
“Conservation efforts become more effective when local communities understand the value of wildlife,” said Thapa Magar. “Raising awareness at the grassroots level not only helps reduce poaching but also minimizes human-wildlife conflict.”
He emphasized that community engagement is key to the protection of wildlife and natural habitats, and initiatives like Wildlife Awareness Week serve as vital platforms to guide and inspire local participation in conservation.
The campaign will continue for seven days, incorporating outreach programs, workshops, and interactions that highlight the role of the community in safeguarding Nepal’s rich flora and fauna.
